As an alumna of Clark Atlanta University, born and raised on the west side of Detroit, the inner city communities have always played a large part in my life. In addition, a large part of my upbringing is my passion for dance; the ability to express oneself through movements and its accessibility to urban communities. Throughout my life, my grandmother would tell me to never forget where I came from and to “always help the children”. As the Chief of Operations and staff member of Cre8tive Arts ATL, it is my goal to keep her memory alive by promoting mental health and wellness through my passion of dance and all arts to those that come from the same walks of life that I did.
My name is Mia Edwards, and I am a Mental Health Therapist, Sound Healing practitioner, and Reiki Master based out of Atlanta, GA. I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2014, and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2018 from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University. As a Mental Health Therapist, my primary population is ages 3-30, with extensive training in working with young adulthood, and adulthood. I am passionate about teaching young children how to respect themselves, and love themselves by teaching that they are valued and needed in this world. I maintain a unique balance of knowledge, skills, compassions, and tenacity. Understanding that it takes a village to raise a child, I have an organic nature to nurture the progression of youth development.
Five years of experience in Marketing as a Data Analyst for non-profits has allowed me to learn how to gather data and use it for projections and forward-thinking. As a father and mentor, the impact of being able to mold and change people’s lives serves as a mirror of how my community has influenced me. Combining both my career and my passion for service has fulfilled me beyond measure. As a mentor to fathers through the 24/7 Dad program, I have learned how essential it is to teach mental health at an early age. As a father, I understand the value of helping our children navigate their emotions and prepare our youth for their future.
